WHY THIS EXISTS

“When somebody looks for PMDD help in their country, what can they actually find?”

This map follows the path from public recognition to diagnosis, treatment and referral — showing where information becomes practical, and where the route remains hard to see.

THE PICTURE TODAY

Recognition is growing.
Routes to care lag behind.

Many countries now recognise PMDD publicly or professionally. Far fewer make the whole journey clear: how to track symptoms, distinguish PMDD from PME, try evidence-based treatment and access specialist help.

The gaps shown here are gaps in discoverable evidence — never proof that skilled care does not exist.

PLAIN-LANGUAGE GUIDE

A few terms,
made clearer.

Prospective tracking
Recording symptoms every day, before you know how the cycle will unfold. Two cycles are commonly referenced.
DRSP
Daily Record of Severity of Problems — a validated tool for recording symptoms each day.
PME
Premenstrual exacerbation — when an existing condition worsens premenstrually rather than symptoms being confined to that phase.
Ovarian suppression
Treatment that temporarily suppresses ovarian cycling and generally requires specialist oversight.

READ THIS CAREFULLY

A working map,
not a league table.

This first-pass review prioritises official health services, government sources, professional guidance and supporting academic research. Search depth, language access, regional variation and publication timing all affect the picture.

“Not found” means no easily discoverable evidence was identified in this search. It does not mean care, expertise or local pathways are absent. This resource is not medical advice.
